How will Alison uplift education in DeKalb County public schools?
Prioritize Student Access to ProgramsAccess matters! Whether it’s fine arts, AP courses, or career & technical education, all students deserve a district that prioritizes fair distribution of academic programming that will open doors for them as adults.
If elected, Alison will fight for students’ access to a full range of academic programming, and work with DCSD to overcome funding issues with innovative extracurricular solutions.
Facility MaintenanceThe viral Druid Hills High School video posted years ago was a wake-up call for the DCSD community that has implications far beyond one school. We must invest in safe, clean, accessible environments so our students can focus on academic achievement.
If elected, Alison will advocate for a strong program of facility maintenance and repair.
Accountability & TransparencySuperintendent hiring must be done with care and forethought. It’s time for DCSD to get serious about researching and hiring top notch candidates in order to ensure that DCSD operations are carried out faithfully and well.
At the same time, all stakeholders must have the opportunity to be consulted during the Superintendent hiring process. If elected, Alison will push for hiring a Superintendent that best matches the expressed needs of the DCSD community.
